With its nods to Betjeman and Shaw’s Professor Henry Higgins, Jamie T’s Sheila deftly distils all his pros and cons into one song. On the one hand you have the Sarf London patois, on the other you have a vibrant narrative rich in poetic observation.

Sheila joins a cast list of ne’er-do-wells and unfortunates on Panic Prevention, marking Treays out as a gifted writer capable of giving his songs a unique spin. The influences — the Clash, the Specials, the Streets — are flytipped across all 12 songs, with his acoustic bass occasionally adding a manic undertow. With highlights aplenty, from the tender Calm Down Dearest to the lurid Pacemaker, this is an enthralling debut.
