There are some holy grails of beauty; applying fake tan at home without streaks, applying liquid eyeliner in a line not a scribble, and, one of the most elusive, straightening your hair so it looks shiny. Backstage at the launch of VO5's new Style & Shine range, Matthew Ward - who's teased the tresses of Jade Jagger, Sophie Dahl and Heidi Klum - showed us how to get straight and sleek in one go.

He's and told us the biggest mistakes most women make, top of his list being that people make is dragging a hairbrush through the hair rather than letting the heat of the hairdryer do the work.

if you are african carrribean and your hair is of african type ie wolly you cannot get shiny hair instead we cane row braid locks or keep our hair short in a crew cut style the reason your hair type is shiny is because the light bounces off of it the opposite of wollyhair
