If Star Wars and Indiana Jones are good enough for Lego-block games, then so is Batman, who swings through Gotham to defeat the Joker, the Riddler and other baddies. Lego Batman is ingenious and funny, and has a more free-ranging gameplay style than earlier Lego titles. There are puzzles to solve, items to collect and objects to be built or destroyed. You can play as Batman or Robin and later levels let you be villains. The game initially feels simple, but this helps make it accessible, and it’s very varied, though hampered by tricky-to-judge jumps and some fiddly puzzles. Despite the lack of online gaming, this is a fresh, witty title that will leave batfans squealing with delight.
