Angry animal lovers shamed a Chinese construction worker into giving his mule three days’ rest after the animal collapsed from exhaustion.
The animal sank to its knees after carrying 250kg (550lb) loads of stones and rocks to a hilltop building site at an average of ten times every day.
Onlookers in Wenling, a coastal city about 185 miles (300km) south of Shanghai, accused the owner of animal cruelty and forced him to have the mule’s wounds treated before giving it a rest. (Wenn)
